Apparent Contradiction
January 5th, 2014. I could witness something i've never seen. A young lady which is my friend in the acme of her 18 years entered the Carmel of Saitn Therese of Lisieux, an enclosure convent of the carmelite order. As a enclosure convent, after a discernment time she shall profess the perpetual vows in the order and she shall leave no more. She shall live a daily prayer life and routines of the convent as well as professing the councels of bein poor, bedient and chast.
Some may say: It doesn't make any sense a beautiful young lady to be lost inside a convent, because she needs to live her youth, she needs to date, earn money, etc...
it may sound a great contradiction, since in a culture where it is almost compulsory the seek of no limit pleasure, wealth and power, such a radical choice seems to be improbable
Would it be an escape due to a frustration? I don't think so. Talking to other nuns i could realize aunequal serenity and hapiness, specially in a nun who completed 60 years of consacrated life. the impression I had when i talked to her was: That woman is accomplished. She didn't regret of "losing everything", if we can say that
Questioned about their routine one of them replied: When exist love, routine doesn't exist. What a beautiful contradiction!
Congratulations Ingrid! May God keep you faithful! Pray for us!
